June 28-July 3, 1999, Hyundai Hotel, Kyungju, Korea

We would like to provide some necessary information for the conference attendants of The Third Korea- China-Japan International Symposium on Ring Theory. This Symposium on Ring Theory was started in 1991 between China and Japan to encourage the development of Ring Theory in China and Japan. The conference is to be held every four years. At the second conference it was decided to include Korea, who will host the conference this year. Approximately 70 talks will be given during six days. Also The Second Korea-Japan Annual Joint Ring Theory Seminar will be combined with the symposium.
  1. About Kyungju : Kyungju is located in the southeastern part of Korea about 60 km north of Pusan. It was the old capital city of the Silla dynasty during more than 1,000 years from BC 57 to AD 992. A lot of historic monuments, especially numerous Siberian styled tombs, are scattered throughout the city. It was appointed by UNESCO in 1995 as one of the world historic cultural heritage places. Currently, the population of Kyungju is around 150,000, but in ancient times after Silla dynasty unified Korea in AD 668, the population was estimated about 800,000, which was one of the most thriving cities of the world. Around that time, the city was the door of Korea to the world. Probably the best place for sightseeing is the museum. During the conference, we are planning to have a tourism day. One plan for the tourism day is to visit historic monuments around the city of Kyungju; and the other plan is to hike around the southern hill of the city. If you are interested in hiking, you may bring comfortable hiking shoes. While hiking, you also can see many historic stone monuments.

The conference will be held in the Hyundai hotel which is about 4 km from downtown Kyungju near Bomun lake in Kyungju. The room fee per one night is: 65,000 Korean Won for single bed; 70,000 Korean Won for double or twin bed. Rooms have been reserved. The currency exchange rate of 1 US dollars is approximately 1,200 Korean Won.
